Legal
aid programmes are to assist the economically disadvantaged. It gives
them access to the courts, the professional services of a lawyer or a
notary, and the information they need regarding their rights and obligations.
Eligibility for legal aid is
based on several factors. An applicant's family obligations, income, property
and liquid assets are taken into account in the processing of applications.
Each province has different
rules and criteria. If you think you might qualify you should contact
the legal aid organization in your province.
